You buy in by setting your cash down on the table between betting areas. You may buy in at any time during a shoe.
Most players look for winning streaks on one side or the other. The game is usually furnished with an electronic scoreboard to keep track of the current shoe, but players may also keep score by hand on paper scorecards that are available on every game.
Many players wait and watch for another player to first bet, usually
the one winning consistently, then they make their own bet.
This can
really slow down the game. Just make your bet as soon as the dealer says
it can be made. That is normally after all bets from the last hand have
been paid and the 5% banker commission, if needed, has been marked.
When you are finished playing you should pay your commission before coloring
up your chips to leave.
