Blackjack Etiquette

Once your bet has been made and the round begins, NEVER touch your bet again.

A series of hand signals has been developed so there will not be any misunderstanding between the player and the dealer and to help the "eye in the sky" to follow the game.
If you would like a hit, tap or brush your fingers on the table behind your cards. If you are allowed to handle the cards then either tap or lightly brush your cards on the table. If you are satisfied and want to stand just simply wave your hand above your cards. If you are playing a pitch game where you hold your cards, you can slide the corner of your cards under your bet.

If you wish to split or double down, place your double down bet next your original, not on top.

And if you choose to make an insurance bet, there is normally an area on the table to make this bet.

It is common courteously to respect your fellow players and treat them as you would like to be treated. For example, congratulate them when they make a good call or receive a blackjack and if for example, they hit at a point when they shouldn’t have and took a card that would’ve benefited you, keep any unpleasant comments to yourself.

Don't constantly take your basic strategy chart out, consult it and put it away only to take it out in the next round. You are allowed at most casinos to have your basic strategy chart at the table as long as you keep it off the table, use your lap instead. Leaving your chart on you lap rather than constantly taking it out and putting it away will also keep you from annoying the other players at the table.

If you want to participate in a new game, wait until the dealer has removed all of the cards from the last game before putting your chips in the betting area.

Do not offer playing suggestions to another player unless they ask for help. It is most times annoying when another player is offering you unsolicited advice.

Finally, Respect the dealer. If the dealer is dealing you a losing streak don’t take it out on them, they are just doing their job. It is also common courteously to tip your dealer for giving good service while you are playing.
