Blackjack Myths

Blackjack Myth #1: The dealer’s hole card is a 10.
There are some players whose strategy is to always assume the dealer’s hole card is always a 10. The truth is there are as many cards from 3 thru 6 as there are 10 value cards. Only slightly more than 30% of all the cards in a deck are 10s. Use basic strategy to make the best decisions on how to play your hand.

Blackjack Myth #2: Always take even money when offered.
When a player is dealt a blackjack and the dealer's up card is an Ace, almost all players will take the even money. It is not a real bad play. Statistically, a dealer will have a 10 in the hole 3 out of 10 times. This means that 7 out of 10 times, the dealer will NOT have a blackjack.

Blackjack Myth #3: Counting cards will allow a player to win, and win big all the time.
This is a HUGH misconception. Card counting is not an easy thing to do, that's why most do not even attempt it. Card counters lose just like everyone else.

Blackjack Myth #4: The goal of blackjack is to get as close to 21 as possible
This is another myth that most beginning players usually follow. The object of blackjack is to simply beat the dealer's hand. The best basic strategy is to stand depending on your hand total and the dealer's up card. Learn basic strategy

Blackjack Myth #5: Bad players making bad plays can affect your game
Yes, in the short run anything can happen but over the course of playing many hands of blackjack bad players will help and hurt you equally.

Blackjack Myth #6: Always take insurance
Do NOT always take insurance. Insurance in blackjack is a sucker bet, meaning it has a very high house advantage. Be consistent and either never bet the insurance bet or always trust your first instinct if you think the dealer does or does not have a blackjack.
