Craps Etiquette

Craps has many unwritten rules. Most are for game security and others are for keeping the game running smoothly.

To buy chips, place currency on the layout before the shooter is given the dice, and ask the dealer for "change only." Never hand cash directly to the dealer. The dealer is not allowed to take cash or cheques directly from a player's hand.

Make your wagers when the dice are in the center of the table and before the stickman calls "dice are out".

Once you have made your bets, pick your hands up out of the table area.
Remember, the game of craps moves fast, and you do not want to slow down the game by having the shooter wait for you to get your hands high. Worse yet is to have the dice hit one of your hands and the roll ends as a loser.

The table has rails all the way around for players to store their chips. Keep yours directly in front of you and keep your eyes on them.

When you are the shooter, you must use only one hand on the dice and keep the dice inside the table area. You may set the dice before you toss them but do not take much time in doing so. Toss the dice hard enough to hit the far wall of the table without hitting the dealers stacks of chips.

Cheer the shooter, root for the point to come up, provided you are betting with the shooter.

Don't Pass bettors are betting opposite most of the players at the table, and right bettors have been known to take it personally when a wrong bettor openly roots for them to lose.

All craps players want to have fun while they play so keep your remarks to your self about the way others play the game.
