Rapid Craps in Las Vegas, is the full version of the game of Craps with ALL the same odds as regular craps.
Rapid Craps is an electronic betting craps table that features touch screen betting like video poker but with all the normal bets and odds for the game of craps. It is like playing casino games on your home computer. No casino chips are used to make bets and winning payouts are fast and accurate. Players still roll the dice and a dealer / stickman still controls the dice and the game while entering the dice rolls onto the rapid craps computer screen.
Rapid Craps at Bill's Gamblin' Hall and Saloon, on The Strip in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Bill's is located on the corner across the street from Caesars Palace and next to the Flamingo Hotel and Casino. The Hotel/Casino used to be known as Barbary Coast Hotel & Casino. Property
is owned by Harrah's Entertainment since early 2007.
The Rapid Craps table is located at the end of the pit facing the front entrance off the Strip. Bill's has four regular craps tables, with fire bets, in it's gaming pit. $5 to $10 min to $1000 max bets with 3-4-5 times odds and only 15 and 30 for 1 payouts with 2x payouts on the field bets. The rapid craps table does not offer the fire bet.
Craps 7 first played Rapid Craps in Las Vegas at Bill's Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 12 noon, when it opened, until 5:30 pm. It normally opens at
noon, as we were told,
but service personnel were working on the electronics when we were
there at 11 am. Other days played were March 29, March 30 and April 29, 2010.
We were also told the Rapid Craps table is open 16 hours each day opening at noon every day.
Rapid Craps Las Vegas is a product by the gaming company of Shuffle Master.
The RAPID gaming line includes Rapid Roulette, Rapid Baccarat, Rapid Sic Bo along with Rapid Craps.

The craps table is 14 feet long and has 7 terminals on each end for a total of 14 player terminals. An additional 6 terminals can be added to the same size table for a total of 20 player terminals. The Stickman / Dealer is where the boxman used to be and controls the dice and enters the rolls onto the rapid craps table computer screen.
A large wide shelf below the players screen is for drinks, ash trays and other personal items. A half size clip board fit perfectly on the shelf as we used it to track the games dice rolls.
Half the time there was only one dealer controlling the game and it never caused the game to slow down unless he could not explain to a player on how to make a certain bet on the screen. The other half of the time the table had a second dealer standing in the normal stick position helping with players questions.
Players can sit or stand at the table. Sitting down at the table limits your view of the dice as they are rolling but lets get real here... does seeing the dice land actually make a difference in what rolls! No way! The stick calls are loud and accurate and all you have to do is listen and watch your screen to see the winning roll number.
The bets available are printed on the rapid craps table layout along with a description of each bet and there are the point numbers in the center of the layout that has the
on off puck marked for the current point of the game.
The only chips on the table is a small bankroll in front of the dealer / stickman.
Two LCD display monitors, where the 2 base dealers would normally stand, are mounted high up on 6 foot poles and show all the bets being currently made by all players and a current history of the last 10 rolls for the current shooter. Game stats are also displayed on the number of rolls since the all day hardways and the individual horn numbers have rolled.
The game can easily be controlled by the one Stick /Dealer but 2 dealers make it easier to answer players questions on how to properly use the betting screen.
You buy in by laying your money or chips, that you may all ready have, on the table. The player terminals DO NOT currently accept tickets. The stick/dealer then enters your money into the table's computer and your terminal screen shows your buy in.
The Dealer allowed buy ins at any time during the game but it is still very rude to buy in and stop the game while a point is established and a game is in progress.
You can use your players card just as you do at a regular craps table. No need for a rating from a boxman. The dealer keeps track of your play and your rating.
You may cash out at any time by selecting the cash out button on the bottom of the screen. You are given chips as you leave the table. There is no ticket in or ticket out as of this date. It would be a nice feature to add soon so the game can continue without cash out delays.
Rapid Craps offers the same bets and odds as a regular craps table. There are NO hop bets and only a simple prop bet layout selection at Bill's Casino.
No boxman and only one dealer running the game and entering dice rolls onto the table's computer screen.
At Bill's the table minimum was $3 with 3-4-5 times odds. The Dealer mentioned that during evenings and on weekends the minimum bet goes up to $5.
The screen would allow you to make a lower than table minimum bet but the bet would not be in action. The screen would show a red X across your bet. The C&E bet was easy to place $1 on it thinking you had placed the $2 min bet. They should have some kind of screen warning at the time you make a below minimum bet. We are sure the game maker will make upgrades that make the betting even faster and smoother.
You can access a HELP page that explains everything you want to know about the game along with all the bet min and max bets.
This is a low limit table at Bill's. July 16, 2010

To make a bet you select your chip denomination, currently $1, $2, $5, $25 or $100, by touching the chip stack then either tap the layout where you want the chip to be placed. Another window opens to give you even more betting choices. Or you may just touch a chip and slide it to the position on the screen's layout. It is fast and easy to make bets.
To remove a bet just touch the bet and slide it back to the chip stacks on the bottom of the screen. The screen is user friendly and the dealers can answer any question you may have and will even show you how to make your bet. New players at the table learned very quickly and the game did not slow down for too much time.
Odds bets, across place bets and a host of other betting options can be made very quickly and accurately.
As long as a wager was at the table minimum and at or below the maximum posted, you could bet ANY amount you desired. No need for exact bets to receive a correct payout. The payouts are right down to the penny!
Want $4 odds on the six? No problem. Pays exactly $4.80.
You can buy bets for $10 and pay a
50 cent vig. Buy for $5 and pay a 25 cent vig.
$3 place bets paid exactly $5.40 for the 4 &10, $4.20 for the 5 & 9 and $3.50 for the 6 & 8. Breakage was always less than one cent!
Making a $12 inside bet the screen places $3.60 on the six and the eight. This is a correct unit place bet. $1.20 pays $1.40 so $3.60 pays $4.20. You can easily change the $3.60 place bets to a $3 wager and it will pay exactly $3.50 on a win if that is what you would like. After a place bet wins the screen asks you what you would like to do to your winning place bet. Very fast and easy to press or take down place bets.
Place bet and Buy bets are off on the come out roll. A player can turn their place and buy bets "on" during the come out roll if they wish. Place bets can be increased by $1 up to the table max currently at $300.
The normal craps bets are available. The Pass, Don't Pass, Don't Come and Come bets all with 3,4,5x odds. The field and Big 6 & Big 8 are also available. The field pays double for both the 2 and 12.
All day hardway bets are available with limits of $1 to $50 max bet. Regular prop bets, Seven, Any Craps, 2, 3, 11, 12, Horn, C&E, Horn High bets and the World bet. There is no Hi Lo bet on the 2 and 12. They must be bet individually. All prop bets accepted a $1 bet except for the C&E and Horn bet both required a $2 min bet.
The dice sure have a way of being rolled off the table more than they do on a regular craps table. It could be since more beginner craps players play at rapid craps it happens more often. The problem now for a regular craps player who wants to change bets or call certain bets off for one roll AFTER the 5 second count down has locked the terminals, is that NO bets can be made or changed or even called off. Shuffle Master is working on changing the current lock out on a no roll situation to allow making bets after the dice are rolled off the table.
The position of the player's computer terminal screen is right at the rail of the table. The shooter really needs to stand up and roll the dice. One has to lean into the table to throw the dice.
Many shooters rolled the dice sitting down but it also caused many short rolls that did not make it the other end of the table. The table only has the on off puck located on it so there are no hands or chips on the layout to interfere with the shooters roll.
Next to a few past roll display errors that have NO bearing on the craps bets outcomes, once on a come out roll, after a point winner and with the same shooter, a nine was rolled and the stick / dealer went to enter the roll onto the craps table computer screen and nothing happened. Their screen was not responding. Thirty seconds went by and after getting help from a supervisor it was determined to call a "NO ROLL" and reset the system. The reset only took a few seconds but a few players did not win their come 9 bets. Everyone was happy with the next come out roll winner 7 and the game continued.
This could be a very nasty situation if the roll was a winner 7 that was called a no roll then the next roll to follow with a 12 craps losing roll for the pass line bettors. Will have to see how this is handled in future computer screen lockups.
April 29,2010 Update: Shuffle Master has made software changes that have solved computer screen input lockups.
Craps 7 recorded 571 actual dice rolls during 5 1/2 hours of play. The advantage to the player is when a long roll happens and many bets need to be paid off it averages 4 seconds from the time the dice call was made until the time when you could make your next bet or adjustments to your bets. We averaged a roll every 35 seconds which is about equal to a full dealer craps table. Our table had 10 players as an average for 5 hours of play.
On a second visit on March 29,2010, Craps 7 recorded 472 rolls in over 4 hours of play and a third visit on March 30, 2010 resulted in 512 rolls in a 5 hour period. The pace of the game still slows at buy ins, cash outs and when a player has a question about making a bet on the touch screen.
One shooter had a 44 roll hand and the speed of the payouts keeping the game going fast was a big plus. Rapid Craps Las Vegas is much better on a hot table than at a regular craps table with dealers making the payouts. Faster payouts and the dice keep rolling is a right way bettor's dream come true.
It was nice not having to keep track of our bankroll as our bankroll and our total bet amounts are always displayed at the top of the screen. Not having any chips in front of us that could be stolen is a big plus.
The Dealer would not run any one over and after asking that all bets are set would start a five second count down timer on the screens and then no more bets could be made on the player's touch screen. The dice were sent out to the shooter as the timer hit zero.
There are good and bad points that can be made about our time at the rapid craps table. We are sure that Shuffle Master can make some actions more user friendly but over all it was a good experience. Players still cheered and high fived during good rolls and groaned on fast 7 outs.
If you want dealer interaction and rather have dealers place bets for you this game you will not like.
If you like the fact YOU can control every bet, call bets off and on at will and place and move as many bets as you like this game is for you.
No more making the base dealers work too hard. No more dealer attitudes and bad boxman attitudes that can make playing craps less than fun. The bets are now all up to you. The table and players were fun and there was no loss of excitement comparing to a normal craps table.
Comments from another Craps 7 team member
If you are a slot player and have never played craps, I would suggest
that you get a basic knowledge of the game of dice first before you
play. Craps is not a difficult game if you stay with the basics.
As for Rapid Craps being like a slot machine, nothing could be further
from the truth, there are however games similar to rapid craps that use
a random number generator to determine the roll of the dice and that
would be like a slot machine.
Rapid Craps in Las Vegas is a real craps game due to the one fact that the dice are thrown by a player and not a computer. There are some software concerns that they are addressing according to Shuffle Master the company that manufactures the game. When they are addressed, this will be a fantastic game and will revolutionize the game of dice.
One of the best features of Rapid Craps, in our opinion, is that you don't have to deal with chips at the table, so this eliminates many problems. Also you don't have to worry about grumpy dealers that want you to play a certain way and give you attitude when you make a bet they may feel is silly. Believe me there are many times you will want to make a silly bet when it is appropriate.
The felt does not light up when the number is thrown, however the computer terminal (monitor) does, it's just a way of letting you know what hit.
As far as making a transition to craps from slots, this would be a big change for you due to the fact that your odds will increase considerably by getting away from slots and into table games.
My business partner and I are both ex-dealers from Nevada, we know this game completely, we use betting systems that have never been used before based upon the math of craps and frequency probabilities.
We win with this machine
because we make unusual bets, bets that are out of the norm for most
dealers to comprehend, we get discouraged when we play at a "real" craps
table because they do not like making our bets, with Rapid Craps Las Vegas we can
make our own bets and bet anyway we choose without this distraction.
Our only complaint, in addition to a few software problems is the low
limits, we know this will also change with time. This game is in the
trial phase now but we predict that it will be everywhere in the future,
however it will never attract the big players without the limits being
raised considerably.
